Little Big People Early Learning warmly invites all local families to our FREE Community Open Play Mornings, held at our fully renovated playground at 56 Durella Street, Durack QLD 4077.
What Is a Community Open Play Morning?
It is exactly what it sounds like — and it is exactly what so many families are quietly looking for.
A Community Open Play Morning at Little Big People is a relaxed, open, no-pressure morning where local families with children aged 0–5 years (siblings welcome!) are invited to come in, explore, play freely, and connect. There is no formal program. No structured activity. No expectation.
Just play. Just community. Just the very best of what early childhood is supposed to feel like.
Each morning runs from 9:00am to 11:00am and includes light morning tea provided — because a good community morning always involves food.

What Can You Expect?
When you arrive at Little Big People on a Community Open Play Morning, you will find our fully renovated playground open and ready for little adventurers. Here is just a taste of what children discover:
🏰 The Adventure Fort
Multi-level climbing, slides, and a bridge that has launched a thousand imaginary quests. From pirates to superheroes, children become whoever they need to be — all while building gross motor skills, balance, and physical confidence.
🪵 The Yarning Circle
One of our most beloved spaces, the yarning circle is where stories are shared, friendships begin, and our sense of community comes alive. On Open Play mornings, it becomes a natural gathering place for families — a space to connect with other parents and with our educators in a completely relaxed, unhurried way.
🍳 The Mud Kitchen
Mud pies, “soup,” forest potions, and culinary masterpieces of every description. Our outdoor mud kitchen invites children into imaginative, sensory play that builds fine motor skills, creativity, and the deep satisfaction of making something with their own hands. (Spare clothes strongly recommended — and absolutely worth it.)
🌊 The Water Play Area
A mist system, sand, and water in perfect combination — beloved on cool winter mornings and pure magic on a warm day. Children explore freely, discovering the science of water and the pure joy of getting beautifully messy.
🌱 The Learning Garden
A thriving vegetable garden where children can water, dig, observe, and connect with the living world around them. Our garden is one of the features families love most — a gentle, hands-on reminder that the natural world is endlessly fascinating.
🏖️ The Sandpit
A generous sandpit with tools, moulds, and the timeless appeal of sand between fingers. Building, digging, creating, and cooperating — all of it happening naturally, joyfully, all at once.
👶 The Dedicated Under-2s Fenced Area
For our very youngest visitors, we have a specially fenced, age-appropriate space designed just for babies and toddlers under two. It is safe, secure, and staffed by our warm educators — so parents of littlies can enjoy the morning knowing their smallest family member is in a space made exactly for them.

The Early Years Learning Framework V2.0 (EYLF) — Australia’s national framework for early childhood education — emphasises that children’s sense of belonging is the foundational condition for all learning. Before a child can explore, discover, and grow in an early learning environment, they need to feel that the environment is theirs. Our Open Play mornings are how that belonging begins — not on the first day of enrolment, but in the relaxed, no-pressure months before.
And for families who are not considering enrolment at all? You are still welcome. Genuinely. These mornings are for the Durack community — for any family with young children who want a beautiful outdoor space to play in, a friendly face to talk to, and a warm morning tea. No expectation. No follow-up pressure. Just community.
